OMAHA — Florida State’s small ball was enough to eliminate UCLA by a final score of 4-1 Tuesday night at the College World Series.
The Seminoles scored on a pair of bases-loaded walks in the 1st, then plated two runs on a bunt in the 4th inning.
UCLA rallied in the 6th for a run, but couldn’t get more even though they had the bases loaded and nobody out. Florida State starter Scott Sitz struck out the next three Bruins to end the threat.
Florida State advances to take on Arizona with a spot in the championship finals on the line. They’ll need to beat the Wildcats on Thursday and then turn around and do it again on Friday if they are to advance. Florida State played in the College World Series opener for both teams on Friday, with the Wildcats winning in 12 innings.
Kevin Kugler and John Bishop called the action.
