Stony Brook won’t be the only underdog in Omaha this season, after Kent State’s walk-off win over Oregon on Monday evening in Eugene.
The Golden Flashes won the decisive third game 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth when Jimmy Rider’s bloop down the left field line dropped fair to drive in the winning run. It’s the first trip to the College World Series for Kent State.
South Carolina will have a chance to win a third straight title after downing Oklahoma 5-1 in the continuation of their suspended game from Sunday. If the Gamecocks can make it back-to-back-to-back championships they’d be the first team to accomplish that feat since USC won five straight College World Series titles from 1970-1974.
Arkansas will also be making the trip to Omaha after the Razorbacks defeated Baylor 1-0 in 10 innings. Jake Wise drove in the game’s lone run with a single in the 10th.
