Alabama-LSU Keys Rewind

11/05/2012

Each week, we’ll look back on what our expert analysts thought each team needed to do to secure victory in our NCAA Football broadcasts, brought to you by Pennzoil.

  • November 3rd: Halftime score: Alabama 14 – LSU 3

(Listen to Terry Donahue’s Keys to the Second Half from our broadcast)

LSU: Terry said LSU needed to play like they did in the first quarter, when they moved the line of scrimmage and ran the ball well.

LSU Verdict: LSU recaptured their early-game form throughout nearly all of the second half, scoring on a Jeremy Hill touchdown run and a Mettenberger-to-Landry pass to take a 17-14 lead. But when they had a chance to kill the game off by picking up a first down or two, the Tigers’ offense couldn’t get it done.

Alabama: Just keep playing – and get AJ McCarron going.

Alabama Verdict: A T.J. Yeldon fumble as Alabama was driving with a chance to increase a 14-10 lead looked like it might cost the Tide dearly after LSU marched 89 yards in the other direction for a go-ahead score. But Terry’s final thought on getting McCarron hot certainly looked prophetic when the junior quarterback took his team 72 yards in just 43 seconds to take the lead, and perhaps save the Crimson Tide’s national championship hopes.

Final Score: Alabama 21 – LSU 17
