Arkansas: Randy said the Razorbacks needed to finish their drives and on defense they needed to slow down South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw.
Arkansas Verdict: Trailing 31-10 midway through the 3rd quarter, Arkansas saw yet another red zone drive yield only a field goal. By the time the Razorbacks saw the end zone for a second time in the game, there were just :39 left in the 4th quarter and the game was already long since decided
South Carolina: Randy’s key for South Carolina was to share the workload on offense and on defense to get consistent play.
South Carolina Verdict: D.J. Swearinger was on his way to a terrible second half when he earned big penalties on back-to-back plays. Then he picked off a Tyler Wilson pass on the very next play and took it 69 yards to the house for a 31-10 Gamecocks lead. He earned his third penalty in a row too by throwing the ball into the crowd in celebration. Not exactly “consistent” play, but the value of the defensive TD far outweighed the damage of the penalties and South Carolina never looked back.
