LAS VEGAS — Anthony Bennett scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for UNLV as the Runnin’ Rebels downed San Diego State in a close game 72-70 on Saturday night.
UNLV trailed the Aztecs by six at halftime, but rallied on strong second-half shooting and the tough inside play of Bennett and Khem Birch, who added 16 points and seven boards – then held on as San Diego State had a chance to take the lead late.
Chase Tapley led SDSU with 22 points in defeat.
