Louisville’s Rick Pitino and Russ Smith on facing Duke

03/31/2013

Rick Pitino, Peyton SivaINDIANAPOLIS, IN – And then, there was one…as in, one #1-seed still standing in the NCAA Tournament. To the surprise of few, it’s the Louisville Cardinals.

Thanks in large part to a 31-point performance from Russ Smith – while battling a nasty cold, no less – Rick Pitino improved to 11-0 all-time in the Regional Semifinals of the NCAA Tournament with a 77-69 victory over 12th-seeded Oregon on Friday night. Now the stage is set for an epic showdown between two of the sport’s blue bloods – Louisville and the Duke Blue Devils – for the right to go to the Final Four.

Kevin Kugler and Pete Gillen caught up with Coach Pitino and Russ Smith ahead of the game.
