DAYTON, OH – Tenth-seeded Iowa State started off hot and never cooled off, blowing by seventh-seeded Notre Dame 76-58 Friday night at the University of Dayton Arena. The tenth-seeded Cyclones advanced to the third round, where they’ll face the second-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday.
Melvin Ejim scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Iowa State, with freshman Georges Niang scoring 19 of his own on 9 of 13 shooting. Jack Cooley and Tom Knight led the scoring for the Irish with 14 points each, but with nobody else cracking double-digits Notre Dame fell further behind.
