AUSTIN, TX – It was the Brothers Hollins Show, as the eleventh-seeded Minnesota Golden Gophers pulled away in the second half to defeat the sixth-seeded UCLA Bruins 83-63 in a Second Round match up in the South Regional.
Andre Hollins scored 28 points, while older brother, Austin, delivered sixteen. The two also combined to convert a perfect 11-of-11 from free-throw line. Meanwhile, Trevor Mbakwe cleaned-up on the glass, finishing with twelve rebounds and only falling a point shy of a double-double.
Shabazz Muhammad led the Bruins with twenty points, in what might have been his final game in a UCLA uniform.
Tubby Smith’s squad will face the third-seeded Florida Gators in a Third Round contest on Sunday.
Wayne Larrivee and Reid Gettys called the action on Westwood One Sports.
