DAYTON, OH – On a day that already saw second-seeded Georgetown fall, Ohio State put on an offensive spectacle by beating the 15th seeded Iona Gaels 95-70 Friday night at the University of Dayton Arena. Sam Thompson poured in 20 and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Buckeyes, while Deshaun Thomas knocked back 24 points of his own. Ohio State ran off early and, despite the Gaels’ mid-game effort, pulled away in the end to advance to the third round against either Iowa State or Notre Dame.
Tavon Sledge had 20 points in the loss.
Gary Cohen and Pete Gillen called the action on Westwood One Sports.
