LEXINGTON, KY – Louisville head coach Rick Pitino expressed concern about the problems a senior-laden Colorado State team could present his Cardinals.
Perhaps he was just trying to set the Rams up for a fall.
The top-seeded Cardinals are off to the Sweet Sixteen for the second straight season, following an 82-56 victory over 8th-seeded Colorado State. Russ Smith scored a game-high 27 points, as all nine players who saw action for the Cardinals got on the scoresheet. Greg Smith led the Rams with 14 points.
The Louisville defense forced 11 turnovers, one game after setting an NCAA Tournament record with 20 thefts in the Cards’ 2nd round victory over North Carolina A&T.
Kevin Kugler and Jamal Mashburn called the action on Westwood One Sports.
