OMAHA, NE – Mississippi State is into the winners’ bracket at the 2013 Men’s College World Series – but just barely.
Hunter Renfroe hauled in Danny Hayes’ drive at the wall with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Bulldogs held on for a 5-4 victory over Oregon State.
Wes Rea’s two-run double in the 8th inning gave Mississippi State a 5-4 lead in a back-and-forth affair. The Beavers scored twice in the first to take a 2-0 lead, then watched as the Bulldogs answered with three runs in the top of the 2nd.
Kevin Keyes’ tied the game at 3-3 with a fourth inning triple, and Oregon State took a 4-3 lead with a fifth inning RBI groundout.
Kevin Kugler and John Bishop called the action.
