CWS Highlights: UCLA 3 – Mississippi St. 1

06/24/2013

David BergOMAHA, NE – UCLA’s formula didn’t change – and neither did its streak at the College World Series. Great pitching and timely hitting have the Bruins one win away from a national championship thanks to a 3-1 victory over Mississippi State.

It was UCLA’s fourth victory in a row in Omaha this year – and fourth where the Bruins allowed the opponent just a single run.

Adam Plutko pitched six strong innings and David Berg got yet another save – his 24th of the year. The big hit came from Eric Filia, whose two-run single in the 4th inning gave the Bruins all the offense they’d need.

Kevin Kugler and Scott Graham called the action on Westwood One Sports.

(Pat Valaika’s RBI single puts the Bruins up 1-0 early)

(Eric Filia drives in two with a 4th inning single)

(Adam Plutko gets out of a jam in the 4th)

(Filia makes a great grab for UCLA in the 5th)

(David Berg gets a double play to end the 8th)
