DENVER – Peyton Manning threw for an NFL record-tying seven touchdowns as the Denver Broncos rolled to a 49-27 season-opening victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Manning became just the sixth quarterback to throw for seven touchdowns in a single game, and the first since Joe Kapp of the Minnesota Vikings accomplished the feat in 1969. Julius Thomas, Wes Welker and Demaryius Thomas each caught a pair of touchdowns from Manning, with Andre Caldwell hauling in the seventh.
Baltimore led 17-14 at halftime in a game that was delayed 33 minutes just before kickoff because of severe weather in the area around Sports Authority Field.
Kevin Harlan and Boomer Esiason called the action on WestwoodOne Sports.
