COLLEGE STATION, TX – Auburn ran the ball early, often and over the seventh-ranked Texas A&M Aggies as the #24 Tigers emerged from Kyle Field with a 45-41 victory on Saturday.
Auburn amassed 615 yards of total offense, including 379 on the ground. Running back Tre Mason led the way with 178 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. Quarterback Nick Marshall threw for two scores and rushed for two more, but it took a late stand by the Auburn defense to seal the victory.
Johnny Manziel returned from an apparent shoulder injury and nearly drove the Aggies for a last-minute go-ahead touchdown. But the drive stalled and Auburn secured the victory when they sacked Manziel on fourth down with 11 seconds left. Manziel threw for 454 yards and four touchdowns in the defeat. Mike Evans caught all those TD passes and had 287 yards receiving.
John Tautges and Chris Doering called the action on WestwoodOne Sports.
