Every week on College Football Country, we take you around the nation to find out more about one of the things that makes Saturdays so great: tailgating.
If you haven’t been to a Florida-Georgia game, and experienced the surrounding party, then you better make plans to next year… As big a game as it is this year, and every year, the party is even bigger. Starting Thursday, Jacksonville transforms into a city full of either orange and blue or red and black, depending on which team you’re pulling for.
On Saturday, the two biggest tailgate parties take place just outside the Gator Bowl, now known as Everbank Field. The first is the Touchdown Showdown, between the south end zone and Adams Street. Touted as the largest interactive experience for fans, the Touchdown Showdown has something for everyone to enjoy. There will be jumbo screens to keep up with all the early games (and will remain on through the Florida-Georgia game for those of you without game tickets), live radio broadcasts, a football style obstacle course, the AT&T FanZone with Hall of Famers signing autographs and plenty of food and beverages for sale.
Further up Adams Street, on the west side of the stadium between the J and M Lots is the Adams Street Experience, where you can participate in the official UF vs. UGA Cornhole Tournament, ride a mechanical gator and, what’s a tailgate party without robot boxing?! You can also buy plenty of team gear at the Adams Street Experience.
Of course, there are plenty of places to eat and drink as well, so if you’re in northern Florida this weekend, we can’t think of anything better to do than head to Everbank Field and be a part of the world’s largest outdoor cocktail party.
