CHARLOTTE, NC – Cam Newton threw for 273 yards and a touchdown and the Carolina defense added a touchdown of its own as the Panthers defeated the New York Jets 30-20 on Sunday to move into a tie for first place in the NFC South.
A week after dropping a divisional showdown at New Orleans, the Panthers are right back in the same position they were two weeks ago. Because the Saints lost at St. Louis on Sunday, the teams once again have equal records of 10-4 heading into next week’s divisional showdown, which will take place at Bank of America Stadium this time.
The Jets dropped to 6-8 on the season and will be eliminated from playoff contention if Baltimore beats Detroit on Monday Night Football.
Dave Sims and Mark Malone called the action on WestwoodOne Sports.
