ORLANDO, FL – A #4 seed in the stacked Midwest Regional isn’t exactly what Rick Pitino and the defending champions from Louisville would’ve hoped for after romping to an AAC tournament title last weekend.
But look on the bright side: the defending champion prior to the Cardinals didn’t even make the field of 68 and then got bounced in the first round of the NIT. That was the fate of 2012 champs Kentucky a year ago – so maybe a fourth seed and a shot at a third straight Final Four trip isn’t so bad for Pitino and his team?
Tom McCarthy caught up with the head coach of the Cardinals ahead of his team’s opening game against Manhattan.
