ORLANDO – No. 5 seed Saint Louis overcame a 16-point deficit Thursday to force overtime and defeat No. 12-seed N.C. State, 83-80, at Amway Center. Senior forward Rob Loe had 22 points and 15 points for the Billikens. ACC Player of the Year T.J. Warren tallied a game-high 28 points in a losing cause for the Wolfpack.
With Saint Louis protecting an 82-80 lead, NC State’s Desmond Lee missed a short jumper for a tie. SLU’s Mike McCall, Jr., went to the free throw line after the subsequent rebound and foul and, after hitting his second attempt, the Wolfpack’s Ralston Turner missed a tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
