FOXBORO, MA – It was far from easy, but the New England Patriots improved to 5-2 on the season with a 27-25 victory over the New York Jets.
Tom Brady hit Danny Amendola on a 19-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter to put New England up 27-19, but the Patriots then had to hold on for the victory after Geno Smith led the Jets on a TD drive. The two-point conversion was no good, but after a Patriots three-and-out, Smith got the Jets back into position to attempt a game-winning field goal.
In the end, Nick Folk’s 58-yard field goal attempt was blocked and the Patriots held on.
Ian Eagle and Boomer Esiason called the action on Westwood One.
