NCAA Football Highlights: Ole Miss 31 – Mississippi St. 17

Hugh Freeze, Jaylen WaltonOXFORD, MS – Ole Miss was eliminated from the College Football Playoff race with three losses in its last four games – but the sting of those defeats will seem like a distant memory after the Rebels knocked in-state rivals Mississippi St. out of the Playoff race with a 31-17 win on Saturday afternoon.

Jaylen Walton led the way on the ground with 140 yards on 12 carries – most of which he picked up on a 91-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs were fourth in the CFP standings heading into the weekend, but are unlikely to have a shot at the Playoff now.

John Sadak and Chris Doering called the action on Westwood One Sports.

(Dak Prescott puts MSU up 10-7 early in the 2nd half)

(A long pass from Bo Wallace to Evan Engram gets the Rebels in position to score)

(A Jeremy Liggins TD run makes it 14-10 Rebels)

(Jaylen Walton reverses field and goes 91 yards for a score)

(Prescott finds De’Runnya Wilson to cut the deficit to 24-17)

(Jordan Wilkins hits Cody Core on the halfback pass to make it 31-17)
