ARLINGTON, TX – Tony Romo found Terrance Williams for the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter as the Dallas Cowboys came from behind to defeat the Detroit Lions 24-20 Sunday in an NFC Wild Card round contest.
Dallas had trailed 20-7 early in the third quarter before Romo and company finished the game with 17 unanswered points.
After the Cowboys went ahead, the defense did the rest, forcing two turnovers down the stretch – though they did give one back on a wild play that kept Detroit’s hopes alive. Matthew Stafford was sacked and fumbled, DeMarcus Lawrence picked up the ball but then lost it himself and the Lions recovered to earn a new set of downs.
Lawrence atoned for his mistake a few snaps later with a nearly identical play. He sacked Stafford, stripped the ball and pounced on it to seal a Dallas victory.
Kevin Harlan and Dan Fouts called the action on Westwood One.
