PORTLAND, OR – The 2015 NCAA tournament got its first overtime game on Thursday as the Ohio State Buckeyes outlasted the VCU Rams 75-72. D’Angelo Russell led the Buckeyes with 28 points, finishing the game despite a head wound sustained in the final minutes of regulation that sent him to the bench for treatment. Melvin Johnson scored 17 for the Rams off the bench, but it wasn’t enough for the Atlantic 10 champions.
Ohio State advances to the third-round where they’ll face Arizona on Saturday.
Wayne Larrivee and Mike Montgomery called the action on Westwood One Sports.
