PITTSBURGH, PA – Northeastern came back from a double-digit second half deficit to have a chance with the ball, down by two, with thirty seconds to play… But a dogged Notre Dame defensive effort resulted in a Jerian Grant steal with just three seconds left. Zach Auguste then hit a pair of free throws to seal it, as the Fighting Irish held off a pesky Husky squad with a hard-fought 65-59 Second Round victory.
Auguste led all scorers with 25 points, shooting an efficient 10-for-14 from the field. Grant had 17 points for the Irish, and Demetrius Jackson contributed eight assists to go with his nine points.
Senior Scott Eatherton led the Huskies with 18 points and eight rebounds in his final collegiate game.
Scott Graham and Kevin Grevey called the action on Westwood One Sports.
