PORTLAND, OR – After a slow start in the first half, 2nd-seeded Arizona turned to the three-ball and pulled away in the second half from 10th-seeded Ohio State on their way to a 73-58 win in the Second Round
Gabe York came off of the bench to give the Wildcats a lift with nineteen points coming off of 5-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. Point guard T.J. McConnell also had nineteen points–on 8-of-13 shooting from the field–to go along with six assists and five steals. Meanwhile, forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson was only five assists shy of a triple-double.
Senior Sam Thompson carried the load for the Buckeyes with eighteen points, while freshman phenom D’Angelo Russell struggled to find his shooting touch, going 3-of-19 from the field.
