JACKSONVILLE, FL – Georgia State’s Cinderella ride was unable to last through the weekend, as they fell to the sixth-seeded Xavier Musketeers 75-67 Saturday evening. Xavier’s reserves came to the rescue today as Jalen Reynolds and Myles Davis combined for 38 points off the bench in the win, while the team as a whole out-rebounded the Panthers 23-12.
With the win, Xavier advances to face second-seeded Arizona in the Sweet 16 next Thursday.
R.J. Hunter, whose last-second three gave Georgia State the upset win against Baylor on Thursday, scored 20 points in the loss.
Tom McCarthy and Donny Marshall called the action on Westwood One Sports.
