SEATTLE, WA – Wyoming hasn’t made the tournament since 2002, and they had to win their conference tournament to get here, but this isn’t Larry Shyatt’s first rodeo. A former assistant to Billy Donovan on his national title teams, the Cowboys coach is approaching his squad’s matchup against Northern Iowa like any other game, confident they won’t let the moment overwhelm them.
He’ll be facing a Northern Iowa team that returns to the field for the first time since 2010, when they knocked off No. 1-seeded Kansas in the Round of 32. This year’s Panthers are a different breed, however, and looking to make their own history.
Kevin Calabro and P.J. Carlesimo caught up with head coach Larry Shyatt ahead of the game.
