SEATTLE – Kam Chancellor punched the football out of Calvin Johnson’s hand as the Detroit receiver was inches from a go-ahead touchdown as the Seattle Seahawks managed to hang on for a 13-10 victory on Monday night.
Trailing 13-10 with just under two minutes to play, Detroit had driven the length of the field as Johnson stretched towards the end zone. Chancellor knocked the ball out of Johnson’s hand – and then K.J. Wright knocked it of the end zone for a Seattle touchback.
Soon after the game ended, the play became the source of controversy when it was revealed that Wright’s action should’ve resulted in a penalty for illegal batting and Detroit should’ve retained possession.
Kevin Harlan and Kurt Warner called the action on Westwood One.
