It’s long been part of the NFL season that the last remaining unbeaten team gets compared with the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Of course, that’s because that Dolphins squad is still the only team to complete an unblemished run to a Super Bowl title.
This year’s Carolina Panthers are the latest to make a run at that mark, reaching 13-0 with a direct connection to the legacy of that Dolphins team. Carolina’s offensive coordinator is Mike Shula, son of legendary coach Don Shula.
