NCAA First Four Highlights: Holy Cross advances past Southern

03/16/2016

DAYTON, Ohio – Robert Champion scored 19 points and Anthony Thompson added 12 to lead Holy Cross to a 59-55 First Four win over Southern, advancing the Crusaders to a West Regional matchup with top-seeded Oregon on Friday.

Holy Cross led by as many as 12 points late in the first half, but Southern commanded a 4-point lead midway through the second half. Tied at 52 with 1:24 remaining, Champion’s 3-pointer gave the Crusaders the lead it never relinquished.

Craig Way and Kevin Grevey called the action on Westwood One Sports.
