RALEIGH, N.C. – Left unmarked underneath the basket on an inbounds pass, Rodney Bullock’s go-ahead layup with 1.5 seconds left on the clock proved to be the difference; Providence edged USC 70-69 in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament.
Providence forward Ben Bentil scored 19 points to lead all scorers. Bullock pitched in 16 points and 10 rebounds, as the Friars earned their first tournament win since 1997.
John Sadak and John Thompson called the action on Westwood One Sports.
