OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Two days after experiencing the ecstasy of escaping the First Round on a half court shot, eleventh-seeded Northern Iowa felt the extreme agony of surrendering a 12-point lead with only 44 seconds to play, as third-seeded Texas A&M somehow managed to tie the game and then defeat the Panthers 92-88 in double overtime.
After going 0-for-8 from the field in the first half, Aggie leader, Danuel House, caught fire late, scoring 22 points in the second half and two overtime periods, while fellow senior guard, Alex Caruso, paced Billy Kennedy’s squad with 25 points.
Jeremy Morgan carried the Panthers with 36 points–fifteen more than his previous career-high–to go along with 12 rebounds.
Tom McCarthy and P.J. Carlesimo called the action on Westwood One Sports.
