SAN JOSE, CA – The Musketeers made plays down the stretch when they needed to, as eleventh-seeded Xavier derailed Arizona’s hopes of a home-state Final Four appearance with a hard-fought 73-71 victory over the second-seeded Wildcats.
Sean Miller’s former squad–now under the command of 8th-year head coach Chris Mack–were once again led by junior Trevon Bluiett and his 25 points. The stalwart guard has remarkably shot a combined 24-of-46 from the field in his three outings so far this tourney.
Sophomore Allonzo Trier paced the Wildcats with 19 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.
Kevin Kugler and Jim Jackson called the action on Westwood One Sports.
