GLENDALE, AZ – For the second year in a row, North Carolina is headed to the national championship game, coming on the heels of a hard-earned 77-76 win over third-seeded Oregon. Just as was the case in the first semifinal of the night, the decision came down to rebounding missed free throws in the final seconds. In fact, the Tar Heels missed four consecutive free throw attempts with under six seconds to play, but a pair of clutch offensive boards from Theo Pinson and Kennedy Meeks would seal the victory.
Meeks delivered a huge performance for UNC inside the paint, hauling in 14 rebounds and scoring 25 points off of 11-of-13 shooting from the field. Justin Jackson added 22 points, going 4-of-9 from beyond the arc for the Heels.
Four Duck starters scored in double figures, led by sophomore Tyler Dorsey’s 21 points off of a perfect 12-of-12 from the charity stripe.
Kevin Kugler and Clark Kellogg called the action on Westwood One Sports.
