DALLAS, TX – For the first time ever, the SEC will crown a Women’s National Champion that is not the Tennessee Volunteers, as conference rivals–top-seeded South Carolina and second-seeded Mississippi State–will square off for the third and final time this season.
The Gamecocks won the first two contests between the pair–which included March 5th’s SEC Tournament Championship game–and they will look to debunk the old adage about the difficulty of beating a team three consecutive times in one season. But they will face a stiff challenge in the red hot Bulldogs–“giant killers” who are now full of confidence coming off a huge overtime upset of then-undefeated Connecticut in the Final Four.
Sunday’s showdown is set to tip-off at 6pm Eastern.
John Sadak, Debbie Antonelli, and Krista Blunk will have the call from the American Airlines Center.
