NFL Highlights: Lions defeat Chiefs 21-20 on opening night

KANSAS CITY, MO – David Montgomery’s 4th quarter touchdown run gave the Detroit Lions a 21-20 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL season opener on Thursday night.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense had a chance to answer but dropped passes and penalties slowed any chance of a comeback.

Kevin Harlan and Kurt Warner called the action on Westwood One.
