ORLANDO, FL – It was far from easy, but Florida managed to put together a 9-0 run early in the second half holding on for a 67 – 55 victory over a gritty Albany squad.
Terriers guard DJ Evans led all scorers with 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
The Gators’ depth was the difference, though, as the Florida bench outscored Albany’s 26 to 2. Five different Gators also contributed double-digits scoring, including a double-double from Patrick Young, and 16 apiece from Casey Prather and Dorian-Finney-Smith.
Billy Donovan’s squad will advance to face a firing-on-all-cylinders Pittsburgh Panther’s team in a South Regional Third Round matchup on Saturday.
Tom McCarthy and Donny Marshall called the action on WestwoodOne Sports.
