NCAAW Championship Game Highlights: UConn rushes past Syracuse, mushes path to perfection

04/05/2016

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Top-seeded UConn capped off an undefeated 38-0 season with a convincing 82-51 win over fourth-seeded Syracuse to capture their fourth-straight NCAAW Championship.

Husky leader–and projected top pick of the 2016 WNBA Draft–Breanna Stewart scored 24 points, to go along with 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks in her final collegiate game.  Fellow senior Morgan Tuck added 19 points.

Cornelia Fondren came off the Orange bench to score 16 points and lead an inspirted 16-0 Syracuse run in the Third Quarter to cut what had been a 33-point deficit to 60-43.  But that would be as close as the Orange would get, as they would ultimately fall to Connecticut for the 24th straight time, dating back to 1996.

John Sadak, Debbie Antonelli and Krista Blunk called the action on Westwood One Sports.
