ATLANTA, GA – With the South Regional squarely up for grabs at the beginning of the night, the basketball at Philips Arena surely did not disappoint on Thursday night. In the night’s first game, the 11th-seeded Loyola-Chicago Ramblers continued to roll on with a 69-68 win over 7th-seeded Nevada. Then, in perhaps the surprise of the night 9th-seeded Kansas State held off 5th-seeded Kentucky, 61-58, behind 22 points from Xavier Sneed. In other action in the West Regional in Los Angeles, 9th-seeded Florida State surprised Gonzaga, 75-60, and 3rd-seeded Michigan blew out Texas A&M wire to wire, 99-72, behind 13 made three-pointers. With a pair of 9-seeds and an 11-seed having already advanced out of the Sweet 16, 2018 marks the first ever Elite 8 with 3 teams seeded 9th or lower.
