NEW ORLEANS, LA – It’s hard to render an Ohio State-Kansas matchup in the Final Four to the undercard, but with the story lines swirling at a frenzy for the “Civil War” between Kentucky and Louisville, that’s exactly where the Buckeyes and Jayhawks find themselves heading into their national semifinal showdown.
But that seems fitting for Thad Matta’s Ohio State squad, which has lingered just outside the reaches of the elite all season. But after defeating Syracuse by a 77-70 score in the East Regional finals, it seems that Matta’s deep, talented, experienced Buckeyes are peaking at exactly the right time, as they look to win a men’s basketball title for Ohio State for the first time since 1960. OSU reached the national title game in 2007, only to fall to the Florida Gators.
Jim Gray caught up with with Matta preceding the Buckeyes’ showdown with Kansas in the Final Four.
