LOUISVILLE, KY – It’s already being billed as a potential “instant classic” – 3rd-seeded Marquette battling 6th-seeded Murray State in the third round of the West regional on Saturday evening.
After finishing second in the Big East with a 14-4 conference mark, the Golden Eagles were unceremoniously dumped by Louisville by an 84-71 final in the Big East Tournament. But Marquette responded with a 20-point blowout of BYU in their NCAA Tournament opener, and now set their sights on the high-flying Racers of Murray State.
