West Regional 2nd Round: (9) St. Louis 61 – (8) Memphis 54

COLUMBUS, OH – Kwamain Mitchell led St. Louis in a 61-54 win over Memphis by scoring 22 points including a 3 pointer to end the first half (audio below). But it was the defense of St. Louis that limited Memphis to 54 points and helped them close an eight-point deficit in the second half. Memphis had averaged over 75 points per game this season.

Brian Conklin scored 16 for the Billikens. His five free throws in the final minute helped secure the win for St. Louis.

Will Barton led the Tigers with 16 points.

St. Louis advances to play Michigan State on Sunday.
