NEW ORLEANS, LA – Successful, controversial, respected, despised…all terms which people affix to Kentucky head coach John Calipari.
But there is one term which has yet to be applied: champion.
Calipari has taken his third different school to the Final Four, and will make his second appearance in the national championship game on Monday night. He is well aware that a victory over Kansas would not only end a 14-year title drought for one of college basketball’s most historic programs, but would also finally validate his status as one of the truly elite coaches in the game.
Jim Gray caught up with Coach Calipari ahead of Monday night’s battle against the Jayhawks.
