Interviews: The U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team Reacts to Qualifying

07/29/2012

LONDON – It was a bittersweet day for the American women’s gymnastics team after the qualifying round at the London 2012 Olympic Games. As a team, the Americans are in great shape, having posted the best score heading into Tuesday’s team finals.

But there was disappointment for reigning world champion Jordyn Wieber, who will not participate in the individual all-around finals after finishing as the third-highest-scoring American. Instead, Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman will represent the U.S.A. Wieber had the fourth-best score in the entire field, but Olympic rules state that only two gymnasts from any one country can compete in the all-around.

Our gymnastics announcers, Joe Tolleson and Peter Vidmar, caught up with each of the American gymnasts after the qualifying round.
