LONDON – In a word: wow.
The U.S. Olympic men’s basketball team seemed like they couldn’t miss on Thursday in dispatching Nigeria by an almost unreal final score of 156-73. The 156 points scored set an Olympic record. The Americans topped the century mark with five minutes to play. In the third quarter.
Carmelo Anthony led the charge, dropping a U.S.-record 37 points while hitting 10 of 12 threes.
In all, Team USA hit 26 three-pointers, made a whopping 59 field goals and shot a staggering 71 percent from the field.
Next up for the American is a meeting with Lithuania on Saturday.
