DAYTON, OH – No.1-seeded Indiana started off their tournament run with a businesslike 83-62 victory against the Dukes of James Madison at the University of Dayton arena on Friday. The Hoosiers opened the game with a flurry, building a 33-point lead at one point in the first half to put the game to bed early.
Freshman guard Yogi Ferrell led the victors with 16 points and junior Will Sheehey was right behind him with 15. James Madison’s Andre Nation put up a strong 24 points to try and carry his team, but with four of five Indiana starters reaching double digits, he needed more help for the Dukes to have any chance.
Indiana advances to face Temple in the third round on Sunday, who beat N.C. State earlier on Friday.
Gary Cohen and Pete Gillen called the action on Westwood One Sports.
