AUBURN HILLS, MI – Matt Dellavedova’s three-point attempt at the buzzer was off the mark, and Memphis survived a serious scare from St. Mary’s, earning a 54-52 victory.
The Tigers led by 7 with just 1:04 remaining, but the Gaels staged a furious comeback to set up Dellavedova’s potential game-winning shot in the final seconds. Joe Jackson paced Memphis with 14 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Brad Waldow scored a game-high 17 points for St. Mary’s.
Memphis advances to play Michigan State in the round of 32.
