Big East Basketball Media Day took place today in New York City, but as college basketball fans are well aware, it was a lot different this time around. The conference is brand new, with seven members of the old Big East – DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall and Villanova – being joined by three new members (Butler, Creighton and Xavier) to form the new, 10-team Big East Conference.
The history of the basketball-mad conference remains, as will the annual showpiece men’s conference tournament at Madison Square Garden.
At Media Day, our Jason Horowitz had a chance to catch up with Big East commissioner Val Ackerman.
