Peter Hooley, DJ Evans, Gary JohnsonDAYTON, OH – Albany raced to a huge lead early, then watched Mount St. Mary’s come all the way back with a run of its own, before outlasting the Mountaineers late in a 71-64 victory in the opening game of the 2014 NCAA tournament.

DJ Evans led all scorers for the Great Danes with 22 points and added nine rebounds. Peter Hooley added 20 points. Albany, which led 21-2 early in the first half, advances to a date with the top overall seed Florida on Thursday in Orlando.

John Tautges and Kyle Macy called the action on WestwoodOne Sports.
