ALBANY, NY – The Great Danes of Albany made only one three-pointer all game against Stony Brook in the America East Championship Game. Turns out, that’s all they needed.
Peter Hooley’s jumper from long range as time was winding down gave Albany a 51-50 lead and propelled the Danes to a third straight automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
For the Seawolves, who were seeking a first-ever bid to the Big Dance, it was a heartbreaker. Guard Carson Puriefoy led the way with 23 points and several clutch threes, but it wasn’t quite enough.
Brandon Gaudin and Mo Cassara called the action on Westwood One Sports.
