CHARLOTTE- Malcolm Brogdon led four double-digit scorers with 22 points while guiding No. 2-seed Virginia past upset-minded Belmont Friday, 79-67, in the second round of NCAA Tournament action at Time Warner Cable Arena.
The No. 15-seed Bruins were within a bucket until the game’s final minutes, but the Cavaliers rallied to outscore Belmont 17-7 down the stretch. Virginia got 16 points from Anthony Gill, 15 from Justin Anderson and 10 points from Darion Atkins. Virginia advanced to meet Michigan State in a third-round matchup on Sunday, despite a game-high 25 points from Belmont guard Craig Bradshaw.
